Counselor's Corner - May 2009 |
I want to let you know that I will be retiring at the end of this school year. I helped open Metzler Elementary four years ago and have enjoyed my association with the Metzler community. My appreciation extends to the parents, teachers, and administrators at Metzler for all of the support given to me as the school’s guidance counselor.
More than anything, I will miss the students; their presence is what school is all about. I have learned so much from them, and I will never forget their courage as they struggled to learn to deal with life’s challenges. I will treasure their joy when they found the strength to face their problems head on with success. Their willingness to try again, day after day, inspired me to do the same. It is my hope that the adults who remain in the lives of these students will advocate for them in positive, nurturing ways. They deserve nothing less.
It isn’t easy to say goodbye; after twenty-nine years with Klein, I am ready to pursue other ventures while I can. There will always be a special place in my heart for Metzler, and as I continue on my journey, I will think of you often.
