In The Library
Students Use Library PACs to Locate Books!

Haude students at all grade levels are now able to use the computer to locate library books!
They have very quickly seen the benefit of knowing whether the books are in the library or checked
out, finding the location of the book on the library shelves by using the map, and finding series of
books they want to read. The Internet is available now through the Texas Library Connection (TLC),
which provides online reference resources valued at $20,000 per school and allows access to other
online information sites. The Harris County Public Library and Houston Public Library are now
accessible through the TLC.

Homework Help for Haude Students and Families

The Haude Elementary library is pleased to announce its membership in the Texas Library Connection (TLC).
This membership is possible because of our library automation system. Membership in the TLC allows our
students and their families, as well as faculty, access to over $20,000 worth of online database resources!
These resources are available at school and at home. Below is information on these resources and how to
access them from your home.

The Gale Group offers access to magazines, newspapers, professional journals, Almanacs, encyclopedias,
and more. The databases especially good for elementary students are: InfoTrac Kids Edition, InfoTrac Junior
edition, Junior Reference Collection, Student Resource Center.

Haude's Jaguar Book Club
Does your child have a birthday or other special occasion coming? Celebrate with a book for the Jaguar Book Club
at Haude Library. Parents, grandparents and friends may surprise a student by donating a book to the library in
honor of his/her special event. There is a special selection of new books from which parents or the child may
choose. A special bookplate with your child's name, birthday, or special reason for the donation will be permanently
placed in the front of the book. A special presentation will be made to the child in the library.

The child will be the first to check out the book from the library and may enjoy it for up to two weeks before returning it to the library so that other children may read it. In addition, your child's name will be displayed on our Jaguar BookClub bulletin board. The cost is a set price of $10.00 for all Jaguar Book Club books.

Please contact the Haude libraian at 832-484-5595 or stop by to participate in the Jaguar Book Club. Books may be donated on behalf of children with summer birthdays at any time during the school year.
Texas Bluebonnet Award
The Texas Library Association sponsors the Bluebonnet Award Master List solely to encourage free voluntary reading among children.
Each year 20 titles are selected based on recommendations from librarians, teachers, parents, and students. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 at Haude must read 5 of the 20 current titles to be able to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book on Bluebonnet votingday in January.
Voting results from schools all over the state of Texas are sent to the Texas Library
Association for tabulation to determine which book received the most votes. This book
is awarded the Texas Bluebonnet Award at the annual conference of the Texas Library Association.
