New GT Identification Process
The GT identification process in Klein is a two-stage process and collects both qualitative and quantitative data to identify students who exhibit potential and/or perform at levels significantly beyond the norm in areas of superior cognitive ability and /or specific academic achievement. All students entering Kindergar-ten will be given the Phase I ability test with further consideration for gifted programming considered only if the ability test score meets the qualifying criteria. Students identified for the Gifted and Talented Program upon completion of the process in 2010-11 will begin receiving services the following academic year 2011-2012. For more information about the identification process, please contact your campus GT administrator.

There is also a new timeline for the identificatin process that can be found in the Fall GT Newsletter that has a link above on the left.

New Attendance Procedure*****Please Note
PARENT LINK – Automated Calling System
The Parent Link automated calling system will be in effect on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. The system will initiate a phone call to the parent or guardian’s “primary” phone number on file for any student reported absent. Calls will be made each school day by 1:30 p.m. Therefore, the parent or guardian should call Haude’s Attendance office at 832-484-5593 by 12:30 p.m. to report the absence. Please leave your message with name of child, their grade and reason for absence and who is making the call. REMINDER: even though these calls are initiated to the primary call number, this does not excuse the student’s absence. The parent or guardian is responsible for following up with a note or medical excuse within 5 days of absence to our office.

If absences are not verified within the allotted time, they will be subject to the districts ‘denial of credit’ policy per class. Three (3) or more absences not verified in a 10 day period will be considered ‘unexcused’ and therefore parents or guardians will receive a letter from the District Attorneys Office regarding the student’s excessive absences.

Note: If you need to update your primary phone at anytime during the school year, please contact Becca Waterwall (Haude’s Registrar) at bwaterwall@kleinisd.net or call 832-484-5593. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the attendance office.
