About me

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am filled with joy and excitement because I will be working with your child this year. So let me tell you about myself. I graduated from Dallas Baptist University with Bachelor of Arts and Science in interdisciplinary studies.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family, reading, and attending cultural activities.

Now that you have an idea of who I am, I would like to say that I am looking forward to getting to know your child. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please contact me at tgarcia3@kleinisd.net and will respond back with in 24 hours.

3rd Grade ELA
English Language Arts Expectations

In third grade, students will continue to address earlier standards as needed while attending to standards for their grade. Students engage in activities that build on their prior knowledge and skills in order to strengthen their reading, writing, and oral language. As in previous years, read aloud, guided reading, and independent reading are the foundations of the reading program. Third grade represents the shift from learning to read to reading to learn. Students are supported through higher levels of texts and deeper, more complex levels of comprehension. Independent learning increases as students begin to build skill, stamina, and confidence. Students will continue working with the Writer’s Workshop model, following the writing process. Author’s craft and grammar are explored through mentor texts. Students are encouraged to learn from different sources as they write on a daily basis.
