Welcome to Spanish 2!
My name is Abigail Patterson and this my first year at Strack. I have taught middle school and high school over the last four years. I am a native speaker from México and my ambition is not only for our students to be successful in Spanish, but also to develop their interest in my culture and the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

I love teaching and believe learning a second language, like Spanish, helps us communicate with the world.

More and more people in the United States are learning Spanish. Even in Europe, right after English, it is the foreign language of choice. It is an official language on four continents and according to some statistics it has more native speakers than English does.

If looking at the above does not convince you that Spanish is a good choice for a second language then here are some other reasons:

It helps you have a better understanding of English. Much of the English vocabulary has Latin origins.

Helps you to get better acquainted with your neighbors, those who cannot speak English.

Multicultural understanding is important in our ever-changing world. Get to know how others think and feel about things. There is also a lot of Spanish literature and art to explore.

It opens the door to learning other languages that are Latin-based such as French and Italian. Even Russian and German have characteristics similar to Spanish.

Employment opportunities are expanded by knowing Spanish.

It’s easy! Spanish is one of the easiest languages to learn because of its similarities to English.

It’s fun!
