GATEWAY classes
Welcome to the Gateway to Engineering & Technology class!

This is a hands-on, project-based course.

There is a $40 class materials fee for this course. Please see the School Cash Online link and follow the directions to pay the class fee. This will cover both semesters of the course.

There are 3 main units we will follow this year:
Design & Modeling - first nine weeks
Automation & Robotics - second & third nine weeks
Magic of Electrons. - fourth nine weeks

Each unit has multiple activities and projects, culminating in solving a real world problem at the end of each nine weeks. Students may spend a few weeks on one assignment. Grades are taken from specific assignments, Engineering Notebook entries, projects, daily participation, quizzes, and other assessments/exams. There will be a semester exam given at the end of each semester.

This is a high school credit course (2 semesters). As such, please realize that high school attendance requirements apply. Students receive 0.5 credits per semester.

The 'textbook' is web based through Project Lead The Way (PLTW). Students will be given a username and password to access their lessons units. Specific class computers will be loaded with additional software that will be needed for specific units.

Please email me at: rteague@kleinisd.net if you have any concerns or questions.
Power Math
Parents, this is an extra math class for your child to receive additional help in math.

We will work on pre-determined, difficult math topics that are coming up in your child's regular math class. I will 'pre-teach' topics from a basic, manipulative foundation. We will transfer to paper & pencil work when your child shows a deeper understanding of the topic. We will spend more time on difficult topics which means we will not be able to cover everything they are doing in their regular math class.

If a student gets 'stuck' on a topic from the regular math class, he/she is encouraged to come and let me know. I will work 1:1 with anyone who needs extra assistance.

I am also here most mornings by 8:00 AM and after school until 5:30. You child is welcome to come in for additional help outside of the regular school day if he/she feels they need it.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
