My name is Mrs. Johnson and this year I will be teaching Algebra 1 and MMA. I have been teaching in Klein for a total of 14 years in both math and special education.

Planning Period:  2nd Period 8:15-9


TEKS for Course:

Student objectives are listed in the calendar/outline section of this document by six weeks. A complete list and description of the TEKS for Geometry (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) can be found at

Grading Determination:

Each six weeks:

70% - Major Grades may include at least 3 tests, projects and a cumulative notebook grade  

30% - Minor Grades may include quizzes, notes, independent practice and other classroom activities

Test and Projects:

An Interactive Notebook and projects are assigned in Algebra I.  They can be “Minor” fitting into the Quiz/Daily category or “Major” fitting into the Major grade category. They will be counted off 10 points per day that they are late.

Student Absence Procedure:

Please refer to the handbook for district policy.  If a test is missed, the student should make it up as soon as possible to maximize performance.  The student is expected to schedule a time for this convenient to the student and the teacher upon returning to class.  

Test Days:

Standard test days for Math are Mondays and Thursdays.  Exceptions may occur with principal’s approval.


  • Computer- fully charged, sharpened pencil or mechanical pencil.  NO Red or Pink PENS.

  • A TI Nspire graphing calculator will be supplied for in-class use only


A tutorial schedule will be posted after school has begun. I am available before school at 7:00 am in room 277.

Classroom Expectations:

  • Students will respect themselves, their classmates, and the teacher with proper attitude and actions.

  • Students will come to class prepared by bringing a sharpened pencil, Computer, Notebook and any assignment.

  • Students will complete all work in pencil and show work as modeled by me or credit will not be given.  

  • Students will take care of personal needs during passing periods.  Bathroom breaks are given at my discretion at a time that least interferes with the learning environment of the classroom.

  • Students will not eat or drink in the classroom

  • Students will not pack up, line up by the door, or leave the classroom until I dismiss them.

Topics to be Covered in Algebra 1:

Solving Equations and Inequalities,  Functions, Parallel and Perpendicular Lines, Systems of Equations and Inequalities, Quadratics, Multiplying and Factoring Polynomials

EOC TEST for Algebra will be the week of May 1st.

Topics to be Covered in MMA:

Personal finances, Calculate Wages and Taxes, Proportions and Inverses, Right Triangle Properties, Probability, and Reasonableness of Graphs
