**ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FROM MRS. KEENAN:

Attendance Counts
Every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after the holidays. It’s tempting to extend your vacation by a few days, but remember, those days count as absences. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused, can add up to too much lost learning time and put your child behind in school. Thank you so much for making sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning. Remember, Attendance Counts. Every Day, Everyone.

Klein schools will require a parent note for all absences. We will no longer accept phone calls as parent notification. Please have all notes delivered to the front office. Thank you for your cooperation.

LATE ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL

When your child arrives late at school, he/she misses the teacher’s instructions and the beginning of the lesson. Your child may also feel embarrassed at having to enter the classroom late.

Minutes late per day during the school year Equals days worth of teaching lost in a year
5 Minutes 3.4 Days
10 Minutes 6.9 Days
15 Minutes 10.3 Days
20 Minutes 13.8 Days
30 Minutes 20.7 Days

Frequent lateness can add up to a considerable amount of learning lost, and can seriously disadvantage your child.

Make sure that your child gets to school on time every day. If your child is regularly late for school, they will:
• find it harder to settle into the school day
• miss teacher’s instructions, assignments and important notices
• disrupt the other children in their class

Frequent lateness can add up to a considerable amount of learning lost, and can pose a disadvantage to your child. Please help your child to be punctual.
The students are allowed in the school at 7:50. Thank you for getting your child here on time and prepared for a successful school day.
