Attendance Rules after Illness English

Please follow these rules if your child has been sick.



Disease  Control  Measures

 

CHICKENPOX:  The student must stay home at least 7 days from when they first broke out with their rash.  When returning to school, all lesions must be scabbed over and the student must be free of fever.

CONJUNCTIVITIS (pink eye):  May return to school when the eye is no longer red, prescription medication has been started, or you have a Dr.’s note stating the student is not contagious.

FEVER (100.4° F or greater):  Readmit when the student has been free of fever (without Aspirin or Tylenol) for at least 24 hours.

HEAD LICE (pediculosis):  Readmit when proof of one medicated shampoo or lotion treatment has been given to the nurse.  You may bring in the empty shampoo bottle that the medicine came in.  A second shampoo or lotion treatment is recommended in 7-10 days.

IMPETIGO:  Readmit when treatment has begun or you bring a Dr.’s note stating that the lesion is not contagious.

RINGWORM OF THE SCALP:  Readmit when treatment has begun or you bring a Dr.’s note stating that the lesion is not contagious.

RINGWORM OF THE SKIN:  Admit provided the lesions are covered.  Treatment is recommended.

STREP THROAT OR SCARLET FEVER:  The student may return to school after they have been on antibiotic treatment for at least 24 hours and they are not running fever.
