1. You should apply the sunscreen about a ½ hour before you plan go out in the sun. If you have been in the water you need to put on more lotion as soon as  you come out of the water. If you have been really active in the sun and sweaty you need to reapply the lotion.
 2. Wear a hat as often as possible when out in the sun.
3. Your parents need to buy a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. And it must say it has UVA and UVB protection.
 4. Play in the shade whenever  possible.

The worst time to be out in the hot summer sun is between 10 am and 3 pm. Avoid being out in the sun during this time when the sun most intense. Your skin can start to burn after being in the strong sun for just a few minutes. Most of the damage done to your skin is done when you are a child. That is why it is so important that you wear sunscreen, hats and don’t get sunburns now as a child or teenager. Never use a tanning bed as they increase your risk of developing melanoma by 74%
