Meet Mrs. Z! She will be teaching 3rd Grade this coming school year at
Benfer! Here she is reading from her Kindle in the Black Hills of South
Dakota this summer! Do you know the name of the National Memorial
pictured behind her? Do you recognize any of those famous faces carved in stone? Leave your answers in the comments section below!
an amazing place to visit!
Benfer teachers are spending some time this summer reading some great books too--even while they're on vacation!
3rd grade teacher Mrs. Siwek took some time out at the beach to enjoy a picture book! I wonder what book she's reading? Have you read a good picture book lately? Tell us about it in the comments below!
I went to an exciting place this summer too, and you guessed it! I took my iPad along with me so I could read along the way!
Can you guess where I was in these pictures? Here are some hints. The bridge is the second-longest suspension bridge in America, and it is 78 years old! It is about 220 feet above the water! The other picture is in a very famous area of the city I visited. In 1906, there was a devastating earthquake that destroyed this neighborhood--and 3/4 of the neighborhoods in the city! Do you know what city it was? Did you notice that I took our library Bobcat with me? Can you find him?
Two awesome Bobcat readers sent me their reading selfies recently. Have you sent yours? All you have to do is have your parent or guardian email me your photograph reading a book, and I will post your picture on our library blog too!
Today's extraordinary readers are S., a third grader and J, a first grader! J has even been using her imagination to write her own stories. How cool is that! Keep it up, Benfer readers! I can't wait to see all of you in August!
That's a fun choice for summer reading adventures, S! Magic Tree House books by Mary Pope Osborne are a big favorite with a lot of our friends!
J's brother will be a bobcat soon too, so he's spending a little time each day reading, reading, reading! :)
I think maybe Mrs. Scott is really using her imagination! Do you think she was reading a book about sharks on her iPad?
2nd grade Bobcat, Dylan took a break at the beach to read a good book along with his family! Mrs. Voyles and his sister are both wild about reading too!
It looks like our Bobcats are having all sorts of summer fun these days! 3rd grader J takes a few minutes to enjoy a book with her little sister! She's a little Bobcat-in-training!
Meanwhile, 2 of our teachers are reading on the road! 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Turner and 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Labrosse took their books along with them on vacation!

See who we caught reading last month!
that mysterious teacher sitting in front of the Alamo reading?
Why, it's Mrs. Konicki, a 4th grade teacher at Benfer! And what is she
reading? Well, Texas history is one of her favorite subjects to learn
about and teach, so of course, she's reading a biography of Susanna
Dickinson, one of the only Texian survivors after the siege of the
Alamo in 1836! Remember to read something today that is fascinating or fun for
you! That's the key! Just read, read, READ!
surely Mrs. Konicki
is not the ONLY teacher who is reading a great book in an interesting place! Where are all our other Bobcat teacher/staff selfies????
