Benfer Bobcats certainly read! Take a look at some of our 3rd graders, who took a pre-holiday break to read to my daughter's old stuffed animals! Those Beanie Babies soaked up the good vibes today! We had fun and practiced reading fluency all at once!
Good Reading News:
According to Reading is Fundamental:
*Over half of the nation's 4th graders read for fun almost every day.
*4th graders who read every day for fun scored higher on the NAEP Reading Test (National Assessment of Educational Progress)
Wow! Do we ever have a big month planned at the Benfer Library! We start the month off with not one, but TWO exciting author events. On November 4, we welcome Newbery Honor Award-winning author Cynthia Lord,
who will be visiting with our upper grade students. She will tell us about her writing process, what types of things inspire her, and how she writes her novels and works with her editors!
Our second amazing event comes on November 14, when Caldecott Honor Award-winning author/illustrator Janet Stevens
will be here to visit our PK-2nd grade students. She too will tell us about her writing process and her inspirations. She may even demonstrate her art for us! How exciting!
In addition to these very special days, we will be receiving our first shipment of new books for the library collection in the next weeks. That is always one of the most fun times of the year! New books!
go to all our Bobcat families who purchased books at the fall book fair. These fun and inspiring events are possible because of your support of the Library program!
